Matej Michalec

Violist

He has been studying viola at the Conservatory in Bratislava since 2018.
He is the winner of the Conservatories of Slovakia competition and the international Talents for Europe competition.
As a member of the Slovak and European Youth Orchestras, he completed a successful tour.
In 2024, he made his debut at the Chamber Music Festival.

Matej Michalec has been studying viola under Martin Rumana at the Conservatory on Tolstého 11 in Bratislava since 2018.

He is the winner of the Slovak Republic Conservatories Competition and at the international Talents for Europe competition, he not only won the first prize but also took first place in the chamber music category with the Rumi Quartet.

As a member of the Slovak Youth Orchestra and for the second year also a member of the European Youth Orchestra (EUYO), he completed a successful summer tour in 2023 under conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano and Manfred Honeck.

In spring 2024, he continued with Alexander Bloch in Belgium and participated in a chamber music project in Cremona at the Accademia Stauffer under the direction of Andrea Obisu and Peter Stark.

Since 2023, he has been listed as an auxiliary musician with the Slovak Philharmonic and has already performed several successful concerts. In February 2024, he made his debut at the Chamber Music Festival Convergences, where he performed alongside musicians such as Olli Mustonen, Tom Norris, and Igor Karško, further solidifying his place in the music scene.
